It's a Breeze - How Air Pressure Affects You

Air Pressure Glossary

Atmospheric Having to do with the atmosphere. For example, "atmospheric conditions" refer to conditions in the atmosphere.
Barometer An instrument used by weather forecasters and scientists to measure air pressure at any given moment for a particular place. Air pressure is usually measured in millibars or in inches of mercury.
Molecules Molecules are the tiny particles which form various substances. For example, air is composed of many billions of oxygen, nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide molecules.
Pressure Pressure is the force exerted on an object by something else. For example, when pressing a tack into the wall, you are exerting pressure on the wall through the tack.
Volume The space that contains an object. In the case of a gas (or air) the volume of the container will tell you the volume of the gas. Volume is typically measured in liters or milliliters. For example, an open 1-liter bottle at sea-level contains 1-liter of air.
Wind Wind is the movement of air from a higher pressure zone to a lower pressure zone. This phenomenon can be observed while opening a bottle of soda, the compressed gas in the soda bottle escapes as the bottle is opened which causes a small wind around the opening for a second.
